“Embracing Ethiopia’s Ecommerce Logistics” workshop was held.
Ethiopia is developing quickly and taking measures to improve its performance in E-commerce. The status of Ecommerce in Ethiopia is that small enterprises are not progressing due to shortage of the required infrastructure, financial capacity and manpower and use of ICT to the benefit of the enterprises.
A workshop organized by Ethiopian Cargo & Logistics Services on the 31st of October 2022 at Skylight Hotel with the theme ‘Embracing Ethiopia’s Ecommerce Logistics’ took place to help the growth of e-commerce logistics in Ethiopia and Africa.
Members of Ethio Logistics Sectoral Association have actively participated on the workshop.
Ethiopia to benefit more from the Free Trade Zone
The Ethiopian Maritime Authority announced that it’s focusing on supporting the logistics sector in order to make Ethiopia benefit more from the Free Trade Zone.
The Freight Forwarders and Shipping Agents Association has signed an agreement with Trade Mark Africa Limited in order to develop a manpower skilled in the field to efficiently handle the free trade zone.
In collaboration with EFFSAA and Trademark East Africa, our association ELSA (Ethio Logistics Sectoral Association) has facilitated and successfully completed a first-round training in Addis Ababa to provide a more in-depth understanding of free trade zone management.
It has been said that arrangements have been made to provide capacity-building training to 25 experts based in Dire Dawa about the free trade zone in the coming week.

Ethiopia’s LPI has slightly increased according to Ethiopian Maritime Logistics Transformation Office.
A new study released in 2022 shows that the average logistics performance index for 2021 has slightly improved as compared to the previous years. According to the Ethiopian Maritime Authority, the Logistics Transformation Office Ethiopia’s LPI is now 2.55, which has grown since its last LPI of 2.51. Among the six performance dimensions, efficiency of customs and border clearance rated first indicating the importance of improving logistics competitiveness to insure the development of the country.
By 2028, the World Bank’s LPI report expects Ethiopia to rank 40th.
A new 30 years master plan of Ethiopia’s Transport sector has been unveiled
The plan, Named Ethiopia’s 30-Years Integrated Transport Master Plan or ETMP30– A new master plan to guide the development of Ethiopia’s Transport sector for the next 30 years has been unveiled on Thursday.
The master plan was designed in a way that modernizes the transport sector and supports Ethiopia’s economic growth, said Dagmawit Moges, Transport, and Logistics minister, at the launching event today.
The ETMP30 takes various development scenarios, possible economic trends, and the overall international situation into account. it also introduces innovative themes in Ethiopia’s transport planning, management, and operation.
